The rejection expressed by the popular people to the Spanish vice president, added to Von der Leyen’s decision to raise the Italian extreme right to that rank, has caused an unprecedented political crisis with an uncertain ending. The socialists accuse the EPP of breaking the agreement they reached in July to support the German’s second term. And what they assure in the group led by Iratxe García is that Ribera is a condition sine qua non if they want their support for the entire College of Commissioners that will be voted on, in principle, at the end of November.
