The European Investment Fund (EIF), which is part of the European Investment Bank – chaired by Nadia Calviño – has invested 28 million euros in Innvierte Sciencetech Bullnet Capital IV, a Spanish fund specialized in ‘deep-tech’ and technology transfer, as reported by the community institution
“The EIF has invested in all three of Bullnet’s previous funds, being a key investor since the firm’s inception more than 22 years ago. This new commitment to Bullnet Capital IV increases the EIF’s support for Bullnet Capital’s financial instruments and investments. more than 63 million euros,” he detailed.
In this sense, the CEO of the EIF, Marjut Falkstedt, has highlighted that supporting the development and transfer of innovative technologies is a “priority” to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness.
Since its first closing in September 2022, Bullnet Capital IV has invested in 10 companies, of which seven are spin-offs or maintain close ties with the main universities or research centers in Spain.
These are, specifically, Quside (Institute of Photonic Sciences of Barcelona), Leapwave (University Carlos III of Madrid), AGPhotonics (University of Málaga), Deep Detection (Institute of High Energy Physics of Barcelona), Mapsi Photonics (University Polytechnic of Catalonia), InspirationQ (Institute of Fundamental Physics of the Higher Council of Scientific Research of Madrid) and Immersia (Polytechnic University of Catalonia).
The three remaining companies, Katoid, MLCode and Enthec, were founded by entrepreneurs with “extensive experience in the world of high technology”, the FEI has stressed.
The fund plans to invest in up to 18 companies with similar profiles and support projects that develop innovative technologies with “global impact”, while promoting the growth of Spanish industry and research.
Other investors supporting Bullnet Capital IV are the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), dependent on the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, through its Innvierte program, as well as private investors.
