The EU included 19 people and the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service in the new Navalny sanctions regime
The European Union (EU) has published the first list of persons involved in the new sanctions regime named after Alexei Navalny (included in the list of terrorists and extremists; The FBK founded by him was included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agent organizations, recognized as an extremist and also undesirable organization and banned in Russia), which included 19 people and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. A number of judges and prosecutors who allegedly violated human rights in Russia were subject to restrictions. Sanctions include an asset freeze and a ban on entry into the EU countries of persons on the list.
Earlier, the heads of the foreign ministries of the European Union countries approved the sanctions regime named after Navalny. It is clarified that restrictions can be taken against allegedly “individuals and organizations responsible for the persecution of the opposition” in Russia.
