He’s doing a lot discuss the emulated version of Tomb Raider Legend launching today on PlayStation Store and compatible with PS4 and PS5. The problem? It runs really badly and doesn’t take advantage of the two consoles in any way. Incidentally, it has a resolution of 480p and maxes out at 30fps. Moreover it costs a whopping 30 dollarsa very high figure considering the age of the game and the times it has gone on sale.
So many problems
The original game dates back to 2006. It was released on PS2, remaining in the PlayStation world. At the time, there weren’t too many questions asked about resolution and framerate in the console world, but today the issue is definitely felt, particularly given such an expense.
Many couldn’t help but make comparisons with the PC version, which runs natively, costs €6.99 without discounts and allows for decidedly superior performance. Others have also pointed out how emulating the PS2 version on PC with an emulator like PCSX2 you can obtain results that are enormously superior to the official version for PS4 and PS5.
Adding insult to injury, because the PC version can currently be purchased from GOG with a huge discount, which allows you to take the game home for €0.98… less than a coffee.
