The industry continues its business concentration process with Nordisk Games acquiring Supermassive.
A few minutes ago, a new purchase and sale operation of a video game studio emerged. The news this time has Supermassive Games as the protagonist, the team responsible for Until Dawn and the recent The Quarry, which according to a statement becomes part of Nordisk Games in its entirety.
More in detail, Nordisk Games has acquired 100% of the capital of Supermassive Games after acquiring a 30.7% stake last year. In this way, the authors of The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me become the third studio owned by this growing European company.
In a statement, Pete Samuels, CEO of Supermassive Games, claims to have made this decision after verifying a very positive work experience during this first year of collaboration. “We have an exciting and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive and this sale only makes that better. I’m very excited about where the security that the partnership offers and continued access to the experience within Nordisk Games will take us.”
Nordisk Games is owned by Nordisk Film, a company with extensive experience in the production of films and television series in the Nordic countries that, for a few years, has been seeking to expand in the video game industry by taking control of Avalanche Studios, leading developers from Just Cause.
Nordisk Games has also invested in Spain, currently holding a 40% stake in MercurySteam (Metroid DREAD).
