The Plenary Session of the Court of Auditors has imposed two fines for a total of almost 250,000 euros to Bildu for violations “very serious” by exceeding spending limits in the elections to the Provincial Councils of May 2023.
Specifically, the supervisory institution concludes that Bildu failed to comply with article 17. Two b) of the Organic Law on Financing of Political Parties by exceed the maximum limit of electoral expenses established in article 193.2 of the LOREG, as well as the spending limit on advertising in the press and radio established in article 58.1 of the LOREG.
In both cases, the excess spending occurred in the elections to the General Meetings of the Historical Territories of the Basque Country held on May 28, 2023.
The first file has been settled with a fine of 219,890.95 euros and the second for another 25,501.87 euros, which gives a total of 245,392.82 euros, once the 20% reduction that implies giving up appeal is applied.
