The Councilor for Cemeteries, Borja Sainz, has highlighted the importance of this initiative, which has been consolidated in recent years as an musical tribute to those who are no longer here. “We intend, once again, that on All Saints’ Day live music be present in the cemeteries of our city, so that those who pay tribute to their loved ones feel more accompanied,” said Sainz. For his part, Gonzalo Trugeda, representative of Funcantabria, stressed that “This activity is our way of honoring our loved ones and, at the same time, making the families’ visit to the cemetery more bearable on this significant day.”. Likewise, the participation of professional musicians from the region has been highlighted, who will be in charge of performing classical pieces and soundtracks with instruments such as cello, guitar, flute and violin, providing a warm and solemn touch to the atmosphere.
In this seventh edition, the musical performances will take place in the cemeteries of Geloria, Rio Cabo, Barreda, Sierrapando, Campuzano and Tanos. The interpretations will take place in two time slots: from 11:00 to 12:00, in Tanos, Sierrapando and Barreda; and from 12:00 to 13:00 in the cemeteries of Geloria, Río Cabo and Campuzano. For her part, Ángela Herrero, event coordinator and professional musician, highlighted the “good reception” of this activity. “People like it, they feel more accompanied,” he said.
