Raji Sayel Abu Aziza, player of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, won the Al Dhaid International Chess Championship, which was organized by Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club in cooperation with the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club over a period of four days, with the participation of more than 100 players from 14 countries, as part of the program to spread chess in the emirate Sharjah.
Raji topped the championship with 6.5 points out of 7 rounds, with six victories, a draw and no defeat, while the Filipino Deloro Noli came in second with 6 points, and the Syrian Izz Al-Din Al-Kour came in third place, and Ahmed Al-Rumaithi, player of the Abu Dhabi Chess and Culture Club, took the position Fourth, the Egyptian Ramez Samir came in fifth, while Zayed Al-Taher, player of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, came sixth.
The closing ceremony and honoring of the winners witnessed Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, and Dr. Hammoud Khalaf Salem, Executive Director of the club, in the presence of a number of participating club administrators and coaches of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, and a large crowd of families of players and chess pioneers in the country.
The organizing committee of the tournament had allocated special prizes for the category champions, where the Indian player Savin Savar from the Sharjah International Chess Academy won the award for the best player under 8 years old, and Sultan Jaber Al Zarouni from the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club won the award for the best player under 10 years, and the Indian player won the award for the best player under 10 years old. Krishna Bhoomi from the Sharjah International Chess Academy won the award for the best player under 12 years old, and Anoud Ahmed, a player from the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, was able to achieve the award for the best player in the tournament.
For his part, the international professor Omar Noman Al Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, Chairman of the Game Dissemination Committee in the Emirate of Sharjah, praised the resounding success achieved by the tournament and at the level of the players participating in it, praising the great effort exerted by the management of the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club and their provision All ways to show the championship in a way, pointing out that Al Dhaid Club’s organization of such events works to strengthen cooperation between clubs and in turn leads to the dissemination of the game and the discovery of new talents.
He stressed that the tournament cast a positive shadow on all the participants, and gave them an excellent opportunity to raise the level of their international classification and increase experience through interaction with many international players participating in the tournament, and the club with all its capabilities and expertise is present to contribute and cooperate in all chess events organized by the Central and Eastern Sharjah clubs, and the championship It comes within a series of events and tournaments included in the game publishing committee’s plan to develop young players, discover talents, and prepare them as required to compete in the upcoming local and international tournaments.
