Renault will turn everything conceived as ‘normal’ upside down today. Specifically, as published by the media Coachthe Ampere division of the brand, dedicated to the development of electric vehicles, has already made its roadmap for the coming years. The objective is clear: position itself as the leading brand in the development of these models.
During the last edition of the Paris Motor Show, Renault publicly showed a conceptual model named emblem. This, in addition to a groundbreaking design, also had technological elements that will be a reality between now and the end of this decade. Among other things, its focus is to have advances such as components with a lower production costhigh electrical autonomy and fast recharges.
This will be the near future of Renault
During his presentation, the CEO of Renault, Luca de Meostated to the aforementioned media that this concept is practically copied from what will hit the market later, just as they already did with the electric 4 or 5: “You may think that it is just a concept, but if you know me, you know that I always When I put something on stage I tend to do it last.”
In the information presented by the brand, the production Emblem will be mounted on “a revolutionary new C-segment platform next generation”, so it will have no apparent relationship with any of those marketed today. In fact, Luca de Meo has confirmed that “electric cars are the futureregardless of the potholes or obstacles in the short or medium term.”
Such is its approach in this segment that the CEO has confirmed that the path is not easy, but that it will solve many current problems: “Don’t count on me to say that everything will be easy, obviously there are enormous challenges but I believe that Europe must solve them urgently. But we should also focus on the future: electric vehicles.”
The top manager also pointed out that Electric cars are now more affordable than combustion carsin terms of a complete life period. “The next step will be to increase battery energy density, reduce production costs and make cars more efficient. This will help further expand its adoption.”
Renault hand in hand with electric technology
Among the advances confirmed by the French company for its electric cars of the future, are the new NMC and LFP chemistry batteries with improved energy density. This will come hand in hand with a significant saving in the production cost of these components and, therefore, that of the vehicle itself since Batteries currently represent between 60 and 75% of the total cost of a car.
These batteries will also have a technological improvement regarding their recharging, since they will be able to reach 100% of their energy after just 15 minutes of plugging in. At the same time, their electric range should exceed 700 kilometers in real conditions, so the result of all this will be more technologically advanced electric cars, but with a purchase price lower than the average of current models.
