The Central Bank of Russia will soon present an updated banknote with a face value of 100 rubles, said Deputy Chairman of the Regulator Mikhail Alekseev, write “News”.
He explained that a “significant event” would take place soon. “In the coming months, maybe even weeks, a press conference will be held where the new banknote will be presented,” the expert explained.
In addition, the Central Bank has planned to update banknotes of five denominations. New denominations of 1000 and 5000 rubles will go into circulation in 2023, Russians will see the changed 500 rubles in 2024, 10 and 50 rubles in 2025.
A banknote with a face value of 100 rubles will be produced and put into circulation in 2022, however, the payment turnover will be gradually saturated with banknotes. Earlier, Alekseev specified that it would take several months for credit organizations to set up counting and sorting machines, self-service devices (ATMs) for banknotes and test this equipment.
