The two leaders meet this Friday in La Moncloa to reactivate the dialogue after the crisis of the ‘Pegasus case’
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and that of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, will reactivate the dialogue this Friday by holding a meeting in Moncloa that will mark a turning point in the crisis in their relations as a result of the outbreak of the ‘case Pegasus’, already three months ago.
The meeting comes after a tense exchange of blows between Pedro Sánchez and Gabriel Rufián in the debate on the state of the nation, after three meetings between Félix Bolaños and Laura Vilagrà that have paved the way and, above all, after the blow of the attorney general of the EU against Carles Puigdemont and the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office, which asks for 6 years in prison and 21 years of disqualification for the president of the Parliament, Laura Borràs, for the crimes of documentary fraud and prevarication, although exempting her from embezzlement and fraud.
Sánchez and Aragonès need each other: the former needs ERC for the remainder of his mandate and the president, that the dialogue table be resumed and give results. Among other issues, the Catalan leader will ask for “concrete measures” against “repression.” For example, the reform of the crime of sedition or that the Prosecutor’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office try to reduce criminal cases that affect nationalist leaders, as has happened with that of the Court of Accounts.
