Striking Distance has revealed new details on the enemies from The Callisto Protocolexplaining that some will be constantly breathing down the player’s neck like the Xenomorph of Alien Isolation.
In an interview with PC Gamer, the developers of The Callisto Protocol said they drew inspiration from Creative Assembly’s survival horror to make enemies unpredictable and make sure the player never feels safe.
“In our game, things follow you, the grunts you hear in the distance sometimes find a way to reach you,” said technical officer Mark James. “They won’t always attack you, move into a grate and you will hear them around you and jump out of another grate somewhere else, where there is a better spot to ambush you. So they look for spaces where they can actually catch you. by surprise, rather than attack immediately. ”
In the latest gameplay trailer of The Callisto Protocol shown at Gamescom 2022 we saw the protagonist use a special ability that allows you to throw enemies against elements of the scenario. This is just one of the many tricks up the player’s sleeve to survive, but the developers warn that it won’t always be possible to rely on it.
In addition, the enemies in some cases will be able to to adapt to the player’s tactics, making his life even more difficult. For example, by hitting an opponent several times with the truncheon he will begin to assume a defensive position, ready to intercept the next blow. In other cases, however, it will be possible to notice how the enemies will try to defend their most vulnerable points.
“We have these” smart moments. “One of the things we focused on early on was the idea of having smart and adaptable opponents,” added James.
The Callisto Protocol will be available starting in December 2, 2022 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S and One.
