Today there will be no butane distribution in Spain, nor on November 5 and 13, and, if nothing changes, nor will there be on November 29 and December 5, 11, 17 and 23. The liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distribution sector is entering its third day of strike without any change that indicates that the resolution of the conflict is close.
For years now – ten according to the employers’ association – the companies that distribute LPG have asked that the commissions they receive for each cylinder distributed be updated. According to the organization calling the strikes, the Spanish Federation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Distributors (Fedglp), this “inaction” on the part of Teresa Ribera’s ministry has led the sector to an “unsustainable” situation because its rates are frozen but not operating and labor costs, which continue to increase.
On the first day of the strikes, the Ministry of Ecological Transition published the draft of the ministerial order that regulates the price of butane, but, again, Fedglp considered that the proposed prices were insufficient.
Thus, at the gates of winter the six million homes Those who receive the classic 12.5 kilogram cylinder every day will be left without it and will have to go to points of sale (gas stations, for example) to purchase it.
As explained by the organizers, during this day of strike and the next ones they will only maintain the distribution to users in situations of social vulnerability, educational, health, social care centers, nursing homes, non-profit institutions and the entire province of Valencia. and the other areas affected by DANA that devastated the Eastern Peninsula on October 29.
