National Police agents have arrested Eduardo Lacasta Lanaspa, owner of several hotels in Jaca and Zaragoza and that weeks ago passed by San Matías in a church in Huesca, and also an person in charge of crime against the rights of workers, With what ends the investigation called precisely San Matías. During the inspections carried out in an establishment in the Altoaragonese town, several foreign workers were detected who did not have a residence and work permit.
In addition to this reason, Lacasta – counted in his day to six years in jail for the fraud of the so -called Atlanta Fincas Case – was the protagonist last week, for being the owner of the Hotel Mur where the Department of Health of the Government of Aragon detected “ Serious deficiencies ”in meals served to the public, which included migrants from the Canarian emergency and also schoolchildren who were performing in Jaca the White Week.
Although the National Police has not confirmed it, this newspaper has been able to verify that it is the aforementioned businessman.
The police operation began as a result of an inspection carried out in one of the Jaca hotels on December 11, 2024, by the National Police in conjunction with the Provincial Labor Inspection of Huesca. Following this inspection, actions were carried out that allowed to identify two hotel workers who lacked residence and work permit.
On this establishment, previous sanctioning files were consisted of by various infractions when hiring workers, such as hiring foreigners in an irregular situation, foreigners without work permission, and having workers without contract.
For this reason, on February 6, a joint operation formed by the local operational group of the local Jaca Police Station, Group I of the UCRIF of Zaragoza and the Labor Inspections of Huesca and Jaca in three hotels was carried out in three hotels belonging to the same business group.
During this operation three foreign citizens were detected working without residence and work permit in Jaca. One of them used for identification a modified international protection application document, so it was arrested for the crime of documentary falsehood.
Therefore, due to the repetition in the use of foreign citizens who lack the work permit, the owner of this business group and the person in charge of one of the hotels for crime against the rights of workers were arrested.
15 years to three months in prison
Lanaspa was sentenced in 2019 for the so -called Atlanta Fincas Case, for which more than 45 million euros came to defraud both public administrations and individuals, although the most harmed were the Tax Agency, the Government of Aragon and the City Council of Zaragoza . Thanks to an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, he reduced the request for sentence of 16 and a half years in jail to only 6 years in prison, for a continuous crime of fraud, punishable insolvency, a crime against the public hacienda and belonging to the criminal group.
However, since none of these sentences exceeded two years in jail, Eduardo Lacasta was just three months in prison. Yes, he had to pay compensation of 6.6 million euros.
