The Book of Boba Fett, new license plate series Disney + starring the famous bounty hunter Boba Fett, is now in its third episode, published Wednesday 12 January 2022 on the streaming platform. In the series you can enjoy the return of Temuera Morrison as Boba, one of the most loved (or most hated, as the case may be) characters in the universe of Star Wars. The Bounty Hunter stands above the law, and is one of the main enemies in two original series films: The empire strikes again And Return of the Jedi.
Son of Jango Fett, Boba Fett also appeared in the last season of The Mandalorian, a series that has many points in common with The Book of Boba Fett, first of all the unmistakable atmospheres in Star Wars style, enveloping planets far from Earth. Survived the attack of the Sarlacc, Boba Fett then returns to the stage, to tell the spectators what happened after his alleged death, which is judged by all to be inglorious for a character of such caliber.
ATTENTION: Below are some details on the plot of the first two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett.
A planet that was once green and luxuriant
As mentioned in previous reviews of The Book of Boba Fett, also in the third episode there is a double narrative, which follows two temporal strands distinct. In one, the events following the Sarlacc attack are narrated, while in the other, Boba is seen covering the role of Daimyo in Tatooine, a place that has always been covered by the lineage of Hutt, as a successor to Jabba the Hutt.
Tatooine was once a planet luxuriant, which has turned into a arid desert, no more water or forms of plant life. Such desertification often causes inconvenience and a lack of liquid supplies. THE Tusken, who have inhabited the planet for a long time, have adapted to a new lifestyle in the sand and heat of the sun. The group of Tusken who takes Boba Fett hostage and then lets him earn their respect find themselves in the middle of the desert and, to survive, use specific fruits that grow under the sand to draw water.
The timeline involving the Tuskens becomes focused on acceptance of Boba in the group, from which the man learns a new fighting style and some important rules of survival, in turn teaching part of his knowledge (such as driving some vehicles). In the third episode of The Book of Boba Fett, an event will shock the narration of this temporal vein. The Tusken have, in fact, several enemies, and many marauders populate the desert of Tatooine, ready to ransack and raid mercilessly the houses and camps in front of them. One of the tasks that Boba plans to take on, for example, is to collect taxes for the passage in the territory of the Tusken by the Pyke, which will prove to be anything but simple.
The narrative of the past, which Boba remembers while in a healing sleep in the timeline of the present, immersed in the Bacta tub, is linear and rather eventful, with music sometimes dark, perfectly suited to the situation and scenarios of a deserted and not very hospitable or life-adapted Tatooine.
Politics is a matter of alliances
In this episode there is a drastic decrease scenes set in the past, to make way for the reality of the present, in which Boba Fett fulfills his role as Daimyo. Flanked by the mercenary Fennec Shan, played by the talented Ming-Na Wen, the former bounty hunter fits into a context of conflict e political games, where not everyone is ready to accept his role, replacing Jabba the Hutt. In particular i Hutt twins, cousins of Jabba and ready to reclaim the role of Daimyo in succession.
The two Hutts don’t want bloodshed, arguing that such an action “would hurt business,” but they are unwilling to let Boba sit on a “throne” they see as theirs by right. Even the mayor of Mos Espa proves uncooperative, sending a hitman to assassinate the former bounty hunter, refusing to pay tribute and acknowledge his authority. Boba’s intention is to base his role on respect, rather than fear, as done by Jabba.
On the one hand there are, therefore, the opponents, on the other the alliances which Boba decides to squeeze while performing his duties as a Daimyo. As new characters, introduced in the episode, viewers find one gang of young people with robotic body parts which, not finding paid employment, must to steal to survive. The band moves around in the saddle of colorful speeders, and will be precious to Boba, who decides to hire them in his service. In addition, towards the final part of the episode, the Hutt twins will make another move, proving to be conciliatory with a gift to Boba Fett, but without being taken seriously.
The third episode of The Book of Boba Fett, in the face of an increase in the time dedicated to the temporal strand of the present, it remains in line with the previous two, although some scenes remain weak and of little impact. However, the political and social design in which the series is immersed is increasingly delineated, giving viewers a pleasant vision.
