In addition to the new iPhone 16, Apple has unveiled significant updates to its smartwatch and wireless earbud lines — here are the biggest changes to the new products.
Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event left us with a slew of important news for the Apple ecosystem. In addition to the highly anticipated iPhone 16, the company unveiled updates to its smartwatches and headphones, including the Apple Watch Series 10 and AirPods 4.
But what exactly has changed in these devices compared to those of last year? If you don’t feel like going through a thousand articles looking for reasons to change your old device, this article is for you. Follow us and we’ll tell you everything.
For iPhone 16 Pro, everything is bigger
Let’s start with a great classic of annual updates, the dimensions. TheiPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max In fact, they feature slightly larger displays than previous models (6.3 inches instead of 6.1″ and 6.9 inches instead of 6.7″, respectively). They also feature an updated A18 Pro chip, with the Pro Max version boasting the “best battery life ever on an iPhone”, according to Apple, and improved cameras.
Both phones – not just the Pro Max as was the case last year – will in fact have the same 5x telephoto camera with a “tetraprism” design, along with an updated 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 48MP “Fusion camera.”
Two new buttons for all iPhone 16
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus inherit the Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro and introduce a new dedicated camera buttonsimilar to that of DSLRs, to take photos and videos and adjust settings. They also feature a dual rear camera capable of recording spatial videos for viewing on the Apple Vision Pro and a faster A18 processor to handle the new artificial intelligence features. Too bad, however, that Apple Intelligence will not be available in Italy.
Among the AI features we won’t get is Visual Intelligence, an option tied to the iPhone 16’s Camera Control button that will automatically search for the things you take pictures of. In supported countries, you can also use it to perform actions, like taking a photo of a concert poster and easily adding it to your calendar.
We also remember that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will also have the two new buttons and will not have Apple Intelligence in Europe. To learn more about the specifications, here you can find details and prices of all the iPhone 16 models.
Apple Watch Series 10 also has a better display
The Apple Watch Series 10 boasts the “thinnest profile ever” and a Larger and brighter wide-angle OLED display. According to Apple, it is up to 40% brighter than its predecessor when viewed from an angle. It can detect signs of sleep apnea by measuring abnormal breathing patterns during sleep, and has a built-in sensor for water depth and temperature.
The Apple Watch Ultra, on the other hand, didn’t receive any significant updates, but Apple did announce a sleek new satin black finish, as well as a titanium Milanese Loop that Apple says is “crafted from corrosion-resistant titanium and designed for scuba diving.”
AirPods 4 with noise cancellation
The AirPods 4, equipped with the new H4 chip, offer better audio quality and are, according to Apple, the most comfortable ever thanks to their open-ear design. They also come with useful features such as voice isolation and transparency mode. The most expensive model also features ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).
The smaller, USB-C-compatible charging case features a speaker that makes it easy to locate with the Find My app. And speaking of charging, AirPods Max have been updated with a USB-C charging port and new colors.
AirPods Pro 2 Coming Soon as Hearing Aids
By the end of the year, the AirPods Pro 2 will be available as over-the-counter hearing aids. Apple is also introducing other hearing-focused features, including a feature designed to protect your hearing and a clinical-grade hearing test.
These were, in a nutshell, all the new features coming with the Apple devices presented yesterday.
