The ‘Annual Global Retirement Index 2022’ is a survey to help pensioners choose a quality place, based on “hundreds of opinions and real-life experiences”

Many begin planning their retirement before retirement time has come, fantasizing about moving their lives outside of their usual territories. Moving to another country is a big step, but the expectation and enthusiasm to experience and live a new life leads you to get carried away by the adventure and take the leap. But the big question is: where?
The North American magazine specialized in tourism ‘International Living’, has compiled a list of the ten most recommended destinations to live after retirement in 2022. The study appears under the name of ‘Annual Global Retirement Index 2022, a survey that guides the retirees to choose the right country to live in the years after their retirement from the labor market: “Our index is based on hundreds of opinions and real-life experiences collected by our trusted sources in the best destinations for retirees around the world », says the magazine.

Spain sneaks into the bottom of this ranking, ranking ninth. Two other countries with a better position also appear in Europe: Portugal, at number 4; France, seventh, followed by Malta, eighth.
It stands out that among the 10 best countries, six of them belong to Latin America: Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia and Uruguay. The latter has climbed positions since it was placed in 23rd place in 2017, due to the improvement in the operation of its companies. This is also the most democratic country in Latin America according to analysts.
However, the top 3 is occupied by other countries. The best country to retire to is Panama, of which the report highlights its ease of living; Costa Rica follows, for its health system, according to the magazine; and then there is Mexico, of which he points out integration and entertainment, in addition to the cheap cost of living.
