The network mechanism approved by the Government at the end of the year for the automobile industry covers more than 4,300 workers, according to the first published data, of the month of January, by the Ministry of Labor. All correspond to jobs in the Valencian Community, a region for which the measure promoted by the Ministry of Labor after the emergency of the DANA and due to the crisis facing the Ford Factory in Almussafes.
Specifically, the network mechanism – new ERTE modality created in the labor reform – has reached 4,343 workers, the vast majority men (3,770) and the rest women (573). All of them, with their totally suspended contract, without any person included in the modality of reducing day.
The data has exceeded the initial work calculations, which considered that the measure could “save some 3,000 jobs.” Of the 4,300 workers included at the time in the network mechanism, the vast majority correspond to the activity “Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi -trailers” and the remaining 26 to the “sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles”.
In the Ministry of Labor they emphasize that “the automotive network mechanism approved in the Council of Ministers on December 23, 2024 allows to avoid traumatic measures regarding employment avoiding the destruction of jobs in a key sector in the Spanish industry and, particularly, in exports”.
4,200 workers are from the Ford of Almussafes
With the provisional data published by the Ministry, it can be seen that the bulk of those affected are employees of the Ford of Almussafes, for which the starting mechanism was expected to have an important scope due to the “survival” situation of which the template warned.
The registration of the Ministry’s employment regulation reflects that three companies have accepted the network mechanism. One of them has more than 5,000 workers, the Almussafes Ford, which concentrates the vast majority of those affected by the ERTE: 4,242 people.
It is followed by another company with between 50 and 249 employees in total, which has included 75 workers in the network mechanism, and a third company, with 26 people achieved.
The Ministry of Labor highlighted with its approval that the network mechanism “implies an employment maintenance commitment for two years for the companies that are expected.” In addition, the department of Yolanda Díaz also recalls that “the commitment to recalification of this mechanism also contributes to a true fair transition of the sector.”
