However, the workers have decided to opt for postpone this strike for a few days, until Thursday the 28thwaiting for the company to fulfill its commitment to pay the arrears before that date.
This was announced this Saturday by the UGT-Public Services Federation in a statement in which it details that with this decision it is expected that “it will comply with its commitment to pay outstanding salaries on the 27th of October and those of the month of November”. The decision has been made in a workers’ assembly held at the UGT headquarters in Maliaño and in which the current situation of the conflict has been reported.
POSTPONEMENT
The union has indicated that of the 72 workers who were not operational today and have been able to participate in the assembly, 93% (67) have decided to postpone the beginning of the general strike.
According to the president of the company committee and UGT delegate at DIAVIDA, Gildo Cabañeros, this postponement is “a gesture of good faith negotiator and the responsibility of professionals with the provision they perform of an essential public service”.
LAST ACT
Likewise, he has pointed out that “it is a last act of good faith so that the SCS, the Ministry of Health, the company and the strike committee can sit at the same negotiating table and we can reach an agreement, not only on the payment of salaries, but also in breaches of the collective agreement and the specifications that motivate the strike”.
On the other hand, the unionist has commented that “today the payment of some pending payrolls has been made” and added that “now we will see what happens on the 27th, and if the company meets its payment commitment and we can reach a satisfactory agreement on everything else,” he concluded.
