The Secretary of Citizen Security, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, and the person in charge of the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office, Ulises Lara, reported on the arrest of Juan David “N”, alleged attacker of the Cuauhtémoc mayoral candidate, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega.
In a press conference, the officials indicated that this arrest is the result of a joint operation between the authorities of the capital and the State of Mexico, carried out in the municipality of Ecatepec.
Vázquez Camacho said that The arrest of Juan David “N” was carried out after an intense investigation and coordination between both entities.
The head of the capital’s Police detailed that two search warrants were executed in municipalities in the State of Mexico, which made it possible to locate and apprehend the suspect.
For his part, Ulises Lara, in charge of the Prosecutor’s Office, reported that during the searches key elements were found that link Juan David “N” with the attack, including motorcycle helmets used on the day of the events.
According to preliminary investigations, the detainee would have received a payment for carrying out the attack against Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, candidate of the Va por la CDMX coalition in Cuauhtémoc.
The attack occurred a few weeks ago, generating strong condemnation and concern among citizens and authorities about violence in the electoral context.
