France’s Interior Minister said there was no threat at either tourist destination. The museum and the castle including the park had previously been evacuated.
NAfter threats against the Louvre and the Palace of Versailles, the French government has given the all-clear. As Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Saturday evening, there was no threat at either tourist attraction. No explosive device was discovered and no attack took place.
The famous museum and palace of Versailles with its park were evacuated on Saturday afternoon. According to a Louvre spokeswoman, the museum received a message indicating that there was danger to the museum and its visitors.
According to information from the radio station “Europe 1”, the threat against the castle was received anonymously on a police website. The central Paris train station Gare de Lyon was also evacuated on Saturday afternoon because of a suspicious package.
France is on the highest terror alert level after the fatal knife attack by an Islamist in a school on Friday and plans to mobilize up to 7,000 soldiers across the country by Monday. An Islamist radicalized young man killed a teacher with a knife and seriously injured three other people.
