The unions denounce that Education will not lower its hours to reverse the cuts next year
The oppositions for the body of teachers that began last Saturday have not yet ended, but thousands of opponents are already preparing to compete for a position as a Secondary, Baccalaureate and FP teacher next year, when more than 960 positions will be convened. The quota is practically closed, although the negotiation is pending to distribute these places by specialties, and also the debate, which began yesterday, to determine how many are reserved for the consolidation of interims and what percentage is dedicated to opposition competition or only to competition of merits. The sectoral table for Education, which yesterday brought together the education unions with representation from the regional Administration, began to outline the criteria, which have not yet been finalized.
The meeting discussed the order that will regulate the human resources procedures during the next school year, which did not convince the unions, upset because “there is not a single advance in reversing the cuts in staff that afflict our educational system since 2011. As reported by CC OO, Education does not even consider reducing the teaching hours of teachers, as other communities have done, to reduce the load to previous levels, with 18 hours in ESO (instead of the current 20) and 23 in Primary (instead of 25). “We are one of the four autonomous communities that still maintain the school day established in the Royal Decree on educational cuts of 2012. The negotiating dynamics of the Administration, which systematically denies any proposal that implies an increase in spending, is intolerable.”
single parent families
Yes, there was agreement on another issue: Education will allow single-parent families, formed by a single parent, to accumulate maternity and paternity leave. This change responds to several sentences that have ruled this way in many other lawsuits with the Ministry of Education.
This recognizes the right of mothers in single-parent homes to have the same weeks to care for their newborn babies as those in families with two parents, by accumulating paternity and maternity leave, and thus eliminating the « discrimination» associated with the home model, and which usually affects women, which was denounced by the Anpe union, which defended the case in court.
Other rulings in Spain have ruled in the same direction, agreeing with teachers who have had children without another parent so that minors can enjoy the same time off.
ESO students protest against the new Baccalaureate
Students from various institutes in the region have called a protest tomorrow against the new Baccalaureate of the educational reform. The students, who are mobilizing through social networks, consider that the new distribution of subjects and subjects harms them because, among other novelties, it includes one more hour of class reserved for the subject of Religion or, where appropriate, attention educational. Due to this modification, they denounce, their weekly shift will go from 30 to 31 hours. In addition, they complain that in one of the new Baccalaureate modalities, History is eliminated as compulsory and relegated to optional. The protest will be at eleven o’clock in the morning in front of the Ministry of Education.
