The 112 Region of Murcia Emergency Coordination Center managed a total of 508,774 incidents in 2021, as announced this Friday by the Minister of Transparency, Security and Emergencies, Antonio Sánchez Lorente. For its management, the 112 Region of Murcia integrates and coordinates a total of 48 emergency agencies and services, of which four are physically located at the headquarters of the Coordinating Center and the remaining 44, connected remotely.
Last year, in the Region of Murcia, the single emergency telephone number 112 answered a total of 828,628 calls, 8.9% less than in 2020. These calls involved the management of 508,774 incidents, 8.26% less than the last year. Most of them, two out of three, had an exclusively sanitary nature. Since it came into operation in 1998, more than 23 million calls have been answered and more than 8.5 million emergencies managed.
Antonio Sánchez Lorente wanted to take advantage of the European 112 Day to thank the work of the colleagues who are part of this management service in the Region, «the most precious asset that the 112 Region of Murcia has is the staff that is part of its team , some professionals who have earned the trust of the people of Murcia and who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year».

Technological advances
The Minister of Transparency, Security and Emergencies highlighted that in 2021 the Advanced Mobile Location (AML) precise location system was implemented, which allows the 112 call center to receive concise information on the location of the person who is calling.
Similarly, last year saw the takeoff of the use of technologies such as ‘eCall’, the automatic call to 112 from vehicles that have suffered an accident, which although it had already been in operation since 2018, it was last year when a Significantly higher usage with 956 calls received through this system.

More than 200,000 Covid-19 calls
The head of the Ministry of Transparency, Security and Emergencies also highlighted that since the Covid-19 pandemic began (2020 and 2021), the single emergency telephone number 112 in the Region of Murcia answered 200,355 calls from people who needed urgent assistance or had symptom. All this, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, which launched a specific telephone number for information on this disease. Of these, 110,755 were treated in 2020 and 89,600 last year.
