Mexico City.– In the midst of the review of the agreement for the allocation of proportional representation deputies, representatives of business leaders went to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF).
The presiding judge of the Electoral Tribunal, Mónica Soto, received executives from different business and financial circles in her offices to exchange their points of view on this stage of the 2023-2024 Federal Electoral Process.
“The president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), José Medina Mora; the president of the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), Julio Carranza; the president of the Mexican Association of Stock Market Institutions (AMIB), Álvaro García Pimentel; the president of the Mexican Association of Afores (AMAFORE), Guillermo Zamarripa, and representatives of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), participated in this meeting,” the Electoral Tribunal reported. Last week, a majority of INE counselors approved the agreement that gives a qualified majority to Morena and its allies in the Chamber of Deputies, an agreement that has been challenged by political parties and civil groups.
As a result of this agreement, the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF has directly received 1,688 appeals against the INE agreement, corresponding to the allocation of federal deputies by the principle of proportional representation.
“Based on the Constitution and the electoral law, the magistrates of this jurisdictional authority will analyze and resolve the challenges within the established timeframes so that the Legislative Branch is integrated,” the Electoral Court offered.
