Tencent and Novarama have announced that they have made a agreement for an investment. Novarama has been a Sony team for years, working on Invizmals. Tencent acquires an unspecified percentage of Novarama.
Novarama, founded in 2003 in Barcelona, is a game developer and publisher. For over 10 years, he was a Sony exclusive studio, for which he created and distributed the Invizimals franchise on PSP, PSVITA and PS3. Released in 2009, Invizimals was a “pioneer of augmented reality, digital goods and transmedia, integrating the game with a Netflix TV series.” Most recently, Novarama released the action-RPG Killsquad on Steam. Novarama is currently working on a multi-platform MMO.
A press release was shared through the official Novarama website in which we can read the words of the CEO of Novarama, Dani Sanchez-Crespo: “Sir Isaac Newton said: To see further you have to stand on the shoulders of giants. The partnership with Tencent, the world’s leading online games publisher, opens up a vast world of possibilities for us. Today is a great day not only for us, but also for the entire Spanish development community. Thanks to everyone involved in this journey. I can’t wait to share what we are working on. ”
Tencent is investing more and more in Spain: it has recently acquired the majority of Tequila Works, authors of Rime and Deadlight.
