Dutchman Eric Ten Hag, coach of Manchester United, said that team player Bruno Fernandes is happy with the club competing in the English Premier League, and that he will continue with him next season, while there has been speculation about the future of the Portuguese midfielder recently.
In an interview with the Dazon platform last week, Fernandes said that he would think about his future with United after the 2024 European Championship this summer, adding that he would only continue with his current club if the two parties agreed to continue the relationship between them. In response to a question about Fernandes’ statements, Ten Hag told reporters: “The statements were taken out of context. “I know he will continue with Manchester United, and I think he is very happy to be here.”
The Dutch coach explained that he “certainly” expects Fernandes to continue with his current team until the end of his contract with him in 2026, and pointed out the importance of Fernandes’ role in the team as a role model for other players in the team, and Ten Hag added: “Taking responsibility is one of the most important roles that he plays.” Top players these days, Bruno is a role model for many other players. He’s really a fighter. Last year, when we played against Brighton, he played with a swollen ankle. Really unreasonable.
He couldn’t run, but he was on the field. He always thinks well, and always gives the team energy. These are essential qualities for success.”
