The Temtem team, Crema, has revealed that the Pokémon-like will no longer receive updates and will eliminate microtransactions. Now work on a new chapter.
Crema has announced that in the next update of Temtemhis 'Pokémon-like', will remove all microtransactions. Additionally, the team revealed that they have concluded development on the game. Starting with Update 1.8, the game will no longer receive new content.
Crema claims that with the next patch (which will add the Arcade Bar) will have kept the promises made on Kickstarter. Temtem arrived on Steam in Early Access in 2021, which means it took the developers three years to reach their Kickstarter goals.
It's too early for Temtem 2
In a long letter on Steam, Crema explains: “We are aware of the community's desire to have a sequel to Temtem: our communication channels are often full of questions about a possible Temtem 2, expectations and more. We listen to you! The team has been discussing creating a sequel for some time, but unfortunately the stakes are high and there aren't enough resources to make what the team would like the sequel to be and the sequel you deserve.”
“After hearing so many opinions about what you would like a Temtem 2 to be like, we think we shouldn't rush and make the same mistakes we have made in the past and even in the present. If we ever do this, we should be able to produce a product and content stream that you all can appreciate and love to the fullest. Such a product is still out of our reach: we are simply not ready. As a studio we are too small to embark on the undertaking that we would like Temtem 2 to be; We don't currently have the technical knowledge, time and ability to bring these ideas to life.”
A new Temtem: Project Downbelow
However, Crema adds “As we look to the future of the Temtem IP, we have expanded our team to focus some development resources on a new, unannounced and untitled game in the Temtem universe. This project is developed completely in house by our team of developers, and we stand by our aspirations. We are also developing this project on a new engine, so unknown and uncharted territory that is both exciting and scary! This is not Temtem: Swarm, nor Temtem 2. This is Project Downbelow.”
“Our intentions for the Project Downbelow are to build new bases and try new things that we would like to see in a hypothetical Temtem 2. By exploring a new combat system, a more powerful engine and other things that we can't reveal yet, we hope to learn the right basics and have enough preparation and experience to get us closer to materializing something as precious to us – and to you – as Temtem 2 would be.”
Finally, we leave you with our test of Temtem.
