Microsoft has announced that the episodic narrative adventure from Don’t Nod Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios Publishing Tell Me Why will be available for free for Xbox and PC (also redeemable on Steam) for the entire month of June 2024.
This isn’t the first time the game has been given away as a gift. The occasion is that of celebrations of the LGBTQ+ communitywith the development team asking players to donate what they would have spent on the game to support an independent trans author or a charity addressing issues related to inclusivity.
Microsoft supports the LGBTQ+ community
Microsoft explained, in the post with the official announcement of the initiative, that “Video games can be a powerful way to express and explore your identity in a creative and safe environment.” The example is then given of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which “allows players to pursue romantic relationships and marry characters regardless of their gender.”
It continues with Overwatch which “includes openly LGBTQIA+ characters, such as Tracer, who is heroic, strong and has a prominent role in the game.” Tell Me Why tells the story of Tyler, a transgender man, who must confront his past. Microsoft hopes it will allow new players “to experience new perspectives that may be different from their own.”
The Redmond house also took the opportunity to remember what it has done for the LGBTQ+ community: “In the last 30 years, together with our employees, Microsoft has donated over 16 million dollars to organizations that support the LGBTQIA+ community, and in the last year alone We have donated over $1.3 million. This year, Xbox, along with Microsoft, is excited to continue these efforts with a contribution of $200,000 to multiple organizations supporting the LGBQTIA+ community.”
Tell Me Why is redeemable at Steam and from Microsoft Store. Even if it is not yet June, at the time of writing this news, you can already get it without spending any sesterzo.
