Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said: “Today, a new round of negotiations begins in Vienna. The agenda is the issue of guarantees and verification of the lifting of US sanctions in the event of a return to the agreement,” according to what “AFP” quoted the official Iranian agency as saying.
He added: “The most important thing for us is to reach a point where we can verify that Iranian oil will be sold easily and without any limits, and that the money for this oil will be transferred in foreign currencies to bank accounts belonging to Iran, and that we will be able to benefit from all the economic returns in different sectors.” .
Abdullahian said that the participants in the Vienna negotiations agreed to add new observations and points raised by its negotiating delegation headed by Ali Bagheri, to the points discussed in the rounds between April and June.
He explained, “We have reached a joint document on the nuclear issue and sanctions. Today, the first negotiations on this joint document will begin.”
Six rounds of talks were held to revive the nuclear agreement, which was dealt a severe blow, following the withdrawal of the United States, between April and June, before it was suspended for about 5 months.
In late November, negotiations were resumed in a seventh round.
During the previous round, European diplomats talked about achieving “progress at the technical level”, but the West, especially the United States, talked about the shrinking of the margin of time available to save the agreement.
