What's better than a big BMW diesel basher?
Nowadays many automobiles have a special design. So special that a tuner or breeder has to wonder what on earth they can add. This is especially the case with rims. With the busy designs and the fact that bicolor is the standard, the pattas already look very aftermarket. If you don't want that look, you'll have to turn to, er, the aftermarket.
Because ladies and gentlemen, this is the X5 LCI from AC Schnitzer. The breeders from Aachen have been supplying upgrades for the X5 since the first generation (the E53). BMW's soccer mom transporter had a facelift last year and sure enough, there is AC Schnitzer with some embellishments.
It starts well with the color. Many tuners choose a black or silver copy. Of course, they are also companies and they also have to sell the cars later. Or they work with customer cars and as you know, customers always choose boring shades. The name of this color is 'Manhattan metallic and it is a great shade, without being too flashy.
Exterior package
The exterior package is the most eye-catching part of the car, with a special mention for the splitter. It is a piece that you mount on the front bumper. Up close it seems to be a bit too busy in terms of design, but from a distance it looks cool. Then there are side skirts, a rear spoiler and some emblems.
Furthermore, the wheels stand out. They are enormous: 22 inches. Although, enormously large, an Audi RS6 has also been rolling on that for years. It is not a wide set in terms of rims: 10.5 inches all around. It is a wide set in terms of tires: 275/35 R22 at the front and 315/30 R22 at the rear. The ET is also different, they are ET35.5 at the front, ET40 at the back. This means that the rear wheels are 5mm further out, so you don't have to create this look by playing with spacers. In terms of tires, you can choose from Michelin (Pilot Sport 4S) or Continental (SportContact7).
More power for this BMW diesel basher!
Then the engine. Under the hood of the X5 from AC Schnitzer we find the B57D30T3, or the '40d', a three-liter biturbo diesel with 352 hp and 720 Nm. After a digital massage treatment from AC Schnitzer, this becomes 382 hp and 780 Nm. Now you think 'my tuner on the corner produces 450 hp and is therefore better!!!!'
It is not entirely correct to make that comparison, because you get a three-year warranty. Also important: with the AC Schnitzer module the car still meets all emission requirements! The latter is really special, because with most chip tuners it increases (significantly).
All parts for this big BMW diesel bomber can now be ordered at www AC Schnitzer website. The parts are not cheap, but what you get is factory quality.
