Angelo Martins Denicoli was terminated on Monday (Feb 12); he was the target of search and seizure in operation Tempus Veritatis
The governor of the State of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, dismissed Army reserve major Angelo Martins Denicoli from the São Paulo State Data Processing Company (Prodesp). The company confirmed this Wednesday (Feb 14, 2024) that the shutdown took place on Monday (Feb 12), in the middle of the Carnival holiday.
According to investigations by the PF (Federal Police), the soldier had participated in the attempted coup d'état in the context of disinformation and attacks on the electoral system. The major was the target of search and seizure – authorized by the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), Alexandre de Moraes – in Operation Tempus Veritatis, launched by the PF last week. By court decision, the soldier is prohibited from having contact with the other people under investigation and from leaving the country.
According to the PF, Angelo Martins Denicoli belonged to the nucleus of disinformation and attacks on the electoral system, also composed of lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid, former aide-de-camp to former president Jair Bolsonaro; former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres; Fernando Cerimedo; Éder Lidsay Magalhães Balbino; Hélio Ferreira Lima; Guilherme Marques Almeida; Sérgio Ricardo Cavaliere de Medeiros; and Tércio Arnaud Tomaz.
According to the investigations, they would have acted, primarily, in the production, dissemination and amplification of fake news and “studies” on the lack of fairness of the 2022 presidential elections, as well as on alleged voting records after official hours and inconsistencies in the code -fountain of the ballot boxes.
According to the PF, they were intended to encourage followers to remain in front of barracks and Armed Forces facilities in order to create the right environment for carrying out a coup d'état.
