Tarasova called the accusations of the Canadian Olympic champion Duhamel against Tutberidze false
Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova criticized the Olympic champion from Canada Megan Duhamel for her words about Eteri Tutberidze. She is quoted RBC.
Tarasova called Duhamel’s accusations false and urged not to believe them. “It was not enough for us to think about her opinion. Who is she? Let her better take care of telling lies and her for false accusations [Международный союз конькобежцев] ISU can deprive the Olympic medal, ”she said.
Duhamel previously ridiculed Tutberidze’s comments about the suspension of Russian skaters. “In the presence of Eteri, the awards at the Olympic Games were not presented due to the fact that she did not follow fair play,” the Canadian recalled.
On July 31, Tutberidze stated that she did not accept the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU), which suspended the Russian skaters. “Of course, it’s easier to share medals and enjoy the little things, but where are the basic principles – fair sport?” she noted.
During the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, a doping scandal erupted around Tutberidze’s student Kamila Valieva. In the sample of the athlete from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. Because of this, the awards ceremony following the results of the team tournament was postponed, where the figure skater as part of the Russian team won gold.
