The Plug-in hybrid SUV Suzuki Across updates with the restyling which introduces a few but important new features. Inside we now find 12.3″ digital instruments and a new 10.5″ infotainment display. The new version also introduces standard equipment to improve driving safety and among the new features we find a new integrated navigator and the Intelligent Speed Assist, which allows the vehicle to adapt the speed to the limits recognized by the sensors on board. This technology, added to the other driver assistance systems already present, allows the Across to obtain homologation GSR (Global Safety Regulation), aligning with the requirements of ADAS mandatory provided for by the legislation in force.
Suzuki Across Plug-in digital instrumentation
Across Plug-in is equipped with a new cockpit completely digital from 12.3″ high definition whose screens have an unprecedented three-dimensional graphics. The new organization of the instruments allows the driver to check information quickly and intuitively, choosing to customize up to 3 different display layouts.
The information also varies depending on the mode selected for the hybrid system: EV Modethe gear is 100% electric; HV Modethe system manages the combustion engine and the electric ones in a hybrid way; AUTO EV/HV modethe system automatically chooses the most convenient mode, always favoring the electric one but also using the combustion engine; CHG Modefinally allows you to recharge the battery using the combustion engine.
It is also possible to view 4 different digital cockpit designs related to the 4 available Driving Modes: Normalfor daily mobility; Echo to best optimize consumption; Sport for top performance and an even quicker steering response; Betweento ensure the best grip on slippery surfaces.
A. also debuted on the restyling of the Suzuki Across Plug-in 10.5″ central display for infotainment, where the controls follow simple logic, similar to those of Tablet and gods smartphones in common use.
Infotainment includes the new integrated satellite navigatortogether with the systems MirrorLink, Android Auto And Apple CarPlay, available wirelessly. Furthermore, the wireless smartphone charger is always included as standard. Also on board is the eCall systemwhich, thanks to a new positioning of the microphone, guarantees greater audio quality during emergency calls.
ADAS Suzuki on the Across, mandatory
The restyling introduces the ADAS system as standard Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA)which allows the SUV to comply with GSR (Global Safety Regulation) approval, mandatory from July 2024.
This system allows the vehicle to automatically adapt its speed to speed limits recognized by the road and by on-board electronic sensors. This system works independently to avoid inadvertently exceeding the imposed speed limits, but also offers the driver the possibility of deactivate itif necessary.
The ADAS equipment also includes other systems, very useful for driving: automatic emergency braking with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists (#watch out brake); active lane maintenance (#drivestraight); monitoring of drowsiness and driver distraction (#stayawake); blind spot monitoring with opposition to changing lanes in the presence of other vehicles (#shoulder guards); blind spot monitoring during reversing manoeuvres (#go ahead); automatic switching between high and low beams based on traffic (#don't be blinded); automatic speed limiter when descending steep slopes (#get down safely); automatic stopping of the car when maneuvering when it is about to hit a fixed obstacle (#fermolì).
Engine with plug-in hybrid drive
Technically the restyling confirms the plug-in hybrid powertrain 306 HPwhich combines three engines: one 182 HP electric on the front axle, always one second electric rear with 54 HP and finally the heat engine 2.5 liter petrol with 185 HP.
Traction also includes a third motor generatorwhich performs the functions of ISG (Integrated Starter Generator), therefore from alternator and motor starter. The declared autonomy of the 18.1 kWh battery is 98km in the city and 75km in the mixed cycle, while emissions are equal to 22 g/km.
The Across Plug-In adopts a 4×4 system E-Four based on the 54 horsepower rear electric motor. This means it can deliver all-wheel drive without ever activating the combustion engine.
Torque distribution is managed automatically and can vary from 100% front to front 20% front and 80% rear. In the event that the charge level drops excessively, the combustion engine is able to intervene recharge the battery and thus guarantee 4×4 traction.
To speed up charging operations, the 7 kW on-board chargercomplete with Mennekes cable type 2. This allows you to easily connect to home wallboxes or public charging stations. Its use reduces battery charging times by approximately 50%. 18.1 kWh batterywhich occurs in approx three hours at the stations with AC up to 32°.
Price, how much does the Suzuki Across cost
The starting price of the Suzuki Across is 55,400 euros. Thanks to its positioning as a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Across benefits from the government incentives reserved for CO2 band 21-60 g/km.
