The funeral of Adriano Scandellari, the 57-year-old engineer who lost his life in the Suviana massacre, was held in Ponte San Nicolò

The outcome of the terrible explosion at the Suviana hydroelectric power plant is tragic: in the end 7 people lost their lives. Among these also Adriano Scandellari, a 57-year-old engineer known for his work also internationally. The final farewell to this wonderful person who leaves behind a wife and two daughters took place in Ponte San Nicolò. Citizen mourning was declared in the town.

The funeral of. took place today Adriano Scandellari, the church square was full of people. There is great emotion for the man who lost his life following the devastating explosion that occurred in the hydroelectric power station where he worked. Two days of searches 40 meters below the ground to find his body. Today, his family, his friends and all the people around him were able to give him their final farewell.

In the church of Saint Nicholas, packed with people, not all the participants entered, so a large screen was set up in the square in front. Among those present were also the Civil Protection volunteers, the Alpini association, the Carabinieri and the Local Police. The mayor proclaimed the citizen mourningtherefore flags at half-mast throughout the city and businesses closed in homage to Adriano Scandellari.

The ceremony opened with the words of Don Daniele, friend and parish priest of the church of San Nicola. The man shares an event with those present very significant:

“Last Wednesday, we closed the coffin and said goodbye to his face, at the same time lightning struck our bell tower and the clock stopped” then continues:

“A person of rare beauty, he married in 2004 and from this love Elena and Laura were born. Adriano was a discreet person, he never wanted to have the role of leader. His well-being was the joy of others. This is the essence of a great friend, of a piece of rare beauty in our parish community. And this is why we are here tonight to remember him in prayer.”

An entire community heavily shocked by this event. A family destroyed by pain trying to overcome this terrible situation, also thanks to the closeness of friends and relatives.
