It should be noted that one of the measures that have been established to protect students from heat stroke and dehydration is to modify class schedules at the basic, preschool, primary and secondary levels.

States like Nuevo León, Durango, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí, They shortened class schedules, so that students in the morning shift can go home earlier and those in the afternoon shift arrive at school later or take classes online.

SEP 2024: Are the holidays brought forward due to the extreme heat?

In Chihuahua, the Ministry of Education and Sports is considering officially requesting the SEP to advance the summer holidays to avoid mishaps due to high temperatures. However, this request has not yet been officially sent to the SEP, remaining for the moment as an option under consideration.

Some states have already taken measures in this regard. New Lion has decided to cut classes starting July 4, starting the holidays for all preschool, primary and secondary school students.

In Yucatan, Classes will end on July 9, while in Quintana Roo, the last day of classes will be July 11, one day earlier than established at the national level.

Other states such as Coahuila, Colima, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Sonora and Zacatecas could join the measure, since temperatures in these regions exceed 45°C, according to the report from the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
