In addition, it has been noted that sexual harassment on the set of recordings was not prevented, conditions were created that subjected the contestants to “emotional distress,” participants were not provided with breaks to eat or rest, and Contestants were exposed to “dangerous circumstances and conditions as a condition of their employment”. This is what the lawyer for the anonymous plaintiffs commented:
“While contestants knew when they signed the contract at the start of production that they were facing a potentially long and challenging competition, they say they got far more than they bargained for. Several contestants ended up hospitalized, while others reported suffering physical and mental complications from being subjected to chronic abuse, degradation, and, in the case of female contestants, hostile working conditions.”
