The interrogation of Stormy Danielsat the center of the cause that has laid donald trump in the dock of justice, concluded this Thursday after the defense’s attempt to present her as a greedy liar who took advantage of her accusations.
The former porn film actress denied having threatened the magnate with revealing an alleged extramarital relationship from 2006that trump He has always denied, if I did not pay him.
“I wanted the truth to be known (…) to be recorded in a document so that my family would not be harmed,” Daniels told Trump’s implacable lawyer, Susan Necheles.
77-year-old Trump is accused of falsifying 34 accounting documents to disguise the payment of $130,000 to Daniels, passing them off as legal expenses from his then lawyer Michael Cohen in the final stretch of the 2016 elections, which he won against Hillary Clinton.
During nearly eight hours of questioning on Tuesday and Thursday, Daniels told the New York jury about the one-night stand she said she had with Trump at a celebrity golf tournament.
Thursday, Trump’s lawyers suggested that Daniels was looking for money with this alleged relationship that he recounted in a book for which he would have received $800,000.according to the defense.
The details that were revealed
“I never used that slogan: I hated it,” said Daniels, 45, who was wearing a green dress and a long black hooded jacket.
On Tuesday he described in great detail the alleged meeting with the real estate magnate at a golf tournament in 2006: his pajamas, his underwear, the sexual position and that he didn’t put on a condom, under his undaunted gaze.
And although “she was not threatened verbally or physically,” she said she had “felt ashamed for not having stopped it, for not having said no.”
“If this story wasn’t true, I would have written it much better,” Daniels responded.
Trump’s lawyers went so far as to ask for a mistrial on Tuesday, alleging that Daniels’ testimony is “extremely prejudicial” to a case that essentially revolves around accounting records related to the election. Judge Juan Merchan rejected it.
This Thursday they asked for it again.
Three other witnesses took the stand after Daniels, including Madeleine Westerhout, former director of Oval Office operations, who described him as a practical man.
“The prosecutor is making it up as he goes along,” the magnate said.
Merchan has banned Trump, who for years has called Daniels “horseface” and hurled other insults at her, from speaking publicly about witnesses, jurors and court staff.
Trump said Thursday that he has appealed the gag order to an appeals court, but did not provide further details.
Her lawyer demanded that Trump be allowed to publicly respond to Daniels’ claims about their encounter now that she has testified.
Merchan, who has already imposed a $10,000 fine on the magnate for disobeying his order, refused to lift it.
In addition to the New York case, Trump has been accused in Washington and Georgia of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election and in Florida for allegedly mishandling classified documents after leaving the White House, but that case has been postponed indefinitely.
