And it is a fund that has tens of millions in its belly (40 already collected, 70 next target) and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti as anchor investor to be placed in companies of marketing advertising and technology to increase its value and competitive capacity.
A very ambitious project built by former super managers of the sector, who want to attack and perhaps cancel the privileges and monopolies created in these 30 years of digital revolution by the big names in Silicon Valley by creating the open internet. Who are the founders:
Marco Caradonna, Founder Managing Partner of BlackSheep Ventures, serial entrepreneur with deep knowledge of the media industry, experience in digital marketing, roi measurement and go-to-market.
He was a member of the board of directors of Dentsu Italia and CEO of the media agency Carat Italia until January 2020. He joined Dentsu Aegis Network in 2013 integrating Simple Agency, a new generation digital marketing agency that he founded in 2008 together with Sandro Moretti and Umberto Bottesini, with the aim of simplifying the approach to marketing and advertising in the interactive industry. Graduated in Business Administration from the Catholic University, he developed his career in Digital Marketing at the beginning of 2000, as a Partner of FullSIX (WPP digital). He was an Angel Investor in start-up and scale up companies.
Sandro Moretti, Founder Managing Partner of BlackSheep Ventures, entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in the digital sector, founder and manager of the largest digital marketing agency in Italy. Graduated in Economics and Commerce from Bocconi University, after ten years in the consulting and Private Equity sector in Italy and abroad, Sandro has focused his career in Digital Marketing Services, becoming a Partner of FullSix (WPP Group).
In 2008 he founded Simple Agency, together with Marco and Umberto, with the intention of changing the rules of the marketing and advertising industry, and as CEO he led the rapid growth of the start-up until it was sold to the third largest company of marketing, Dentsu Group, becoming Head of Corporate and Business Operations in Italy.
BlackSheep Ventures is now ready to start the project for the enhancement of companies and skills to be put into a system to increase their value and competitive capacity. The fund has in fact just closed – in September – its first closing, reaching almost 40 million euros and exceeding management’s expectations. Funding now continues towards the target of 70 ML (hard cap at 100 ML) after having involved CDP Venture Capital SGR as anchor investor.
