There demo Of Stellar Blade proved that the title developed by the Korean team Shift Up it's not just fanservice: Behind the extremely attractive design of the protagonist, Eve, lies a surprisingly solid experience.
If you have read our review of Stellar Blade, and even more so if you have played the aforementioned demo firsthand, you already know what we are talking about: the obvious sexualization of the character we control in the game is the most classic of hooks and so far it has done its job brilliantly.
In fact, there has been a lot of talk about this production, ever since it was simply called Project Eve, and it was easy to frame certain stylistic choices as mere fanservice, in fact. Fortunately, however, beyond Eve's beauty there is more; starting with the excellent combat system created by Shift Up.
The mechanics implemented by the Korean studio, although not shining in terms of originality, seem perfectly capable of giving us a very solid system, with undoubted potential. Will it be fully expressed in the full version of Stellar Blade? That is clearly the hope.
Sekiro for women?
The feeling that many have expressed after trying the Stellar Blade demo is that the title of Shift Up stands as a sort of retelling of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice more than as a traditional soulslike, and the use of certain solutions only confirms this thesis.
The management of the defense, first of all, with the use of parrying and dodging which then opens up a whole series of possible responses, with opponents who can be stunned if they pull off perfect saves while Eve can also dodge at the last second and take maximum advantage of this maneuver.
We will have to wait another month to find out if these exciting assumptions will actually lead us in the direction of a meaningful experience, but there is no doubt that being faced with such convincing gameplay has surprised many people who perhaps they expected very little from Stellar Blade.
Have you tried the demo? What do you think? Let's talk about.
