Stellantis is aiming ever higher software, technological platforms and related services, in a sector that is growing strongly. At Stellantis there is an increase in revenues with an increase of 250% compared to 2021 and beyond 5 million global subscribers users of Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS Automobiles, FIAT, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Vauxhall cars.
Stellantis connected services
Stellantis is also expanding the healthcare sector connected services and software features for private customers and fleet managers with the aim of improving the safety and use of cars. Let’s see in detail what these Stellantis connected services are.
- e-ROUTES: Available in Europe and expanding globally by the end of 2024, e-ROUTES is a route planning app integrated with real-time vehicle data, designed for electric vehicles (EVs). It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to display charging stops adapted to the driver’s preferences.
- Virtual assistant powered by ChatGPT: Successfully implemented by pilot in October 2023, ChatGPT is now a standard feature for Stellantis vehicles in 20 European countries by the end of 2024. It provides natural language conversations to assist drivers and passengers.
- AppMarket: In North America, AppMarket is a connectivity hub that offers regularly updated services and the ability to purchase subscriptions directly from your vehicle. It is available via over-the-air on a wide range of Jeep® and Ram vehicles and will reach 99% of enabled vehicles by the end of 2024, with similar service in Europe.
- Free2move Connect Fleet: Fleet management platform that provides managers with real-time visibility into their vehicles. It includes features such as geofencing, real-time geolocation and facilitating recovery in the event of theft.
- MyTasks: Tool integrated into the vehicle infotainment system that helps drivers effectively manage scheduled tasks, with automatic updates for fleet managers in case of changes or delays.
- Mobilisights: Uses data from 13.8 million connected vehicles to deliver innovative solutions in fleet management, driver interaction, traffic management and urban planning, while respecting customer data privacy.
What are Stellantis’ STLA technology platforms
Stellantis has also invested in an internal division for software development, leveraging a global network of technology centers operating 24/7. These efforts aim to customize the software products for each vehicle platform of the Group. The main ones technological platformscalled STLA are these:
- STLA Brain: Provides centralized processing and over-the-air access to sensors and actuators, dramatically reducing the number of electronic control units (ECUs) to approximately 60 per vehicle. New features can be developed internally in less than six months, a quarter of the current time. It will be integrated into vehicles from 2025.
- STLA SmartCockpit: Introduces advanced personalization and connected capabilities powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. It offers a simplified interface for greater ease of use and integrates users’ personal preferences through a digital profile that follows them between vehicles. Expected availability by the end of 2024, with commercial launch in 2025.
- STLA AutoDrive: Uses the capabilities of STLA Brain and STLA SmartCockpit to provide advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that increase driver safety and confidence. It supports “hands-off/eyes-off” and “hands-off/eyes-on” driving modes, with technology availability expected by the end of 2024 and commercial launch in 2025.
These initiatives aim to make transportation smarter and safer, improving the overall customer experience and optimizing use of Stellantis vehicles.
Yves BonnefontChief Software Officer of Stellantis, on the occasion of theInvestor Day 2024 said the company quickly adopted a similar mindset to that of startupsfocusing on speed and developing software capabilities.
The Group’s software strategy aims to generate around €20 billion in additional annual revenue by the end of the decade. During the’Investor Day 2024Stellantis presented new products software aimed at B2C and B2B customers, highlighting the enhancement of the mobility experience for private and professional customers of its 14 brands. As of 2023, Stellantis has performed over 94 million updates over the air (OTA), significantly improving the functionality of existing vehicles. This success forms a solid foundation for future software development at Stellantis, including the implementation of Virtual Engineering Workbench in collaboration with strategic partners.
