Running in Marina Bay
There McLaren and Oscar Piastri arrive in Singapore on the wings of enthusiasm after the success in Baku that earned them the top spot in the Constructors’ standings. Lando Norris wants to continue nibbling away at Verstappen’s points. Below are the statements of the McLaren drivers and team principals ahead of the Marina Bay event.
Landon Norris: “It’s a great feeling to come into this race knowing that we are currently first in the Constructors’ Championship. The team has done and continues to do an excellent job. We know that we now have to continue working hard. I’m excited about this weekend in Singapore. It’s a fantastic country to visit and it’s great to race under the lights. This circuit can be quite challenging in terms of humidity, but I’ve done well here in the past and feel prepared, so it should be another fun race.”
Oscar Plates: “After an incredible weekend that allowed me to win my second Grand Prix, I am ready to repeat myself in Singapore. It is a shorter circuit, but definitely demanding for the drivers. We must continue to score as many points as possible.
Andrea Star: “After a successful weekend in Baku, we now head to Singapore and another street circuit. This is one of the most physically demanding races due to the high humidity. The team is prepared for such difficult conditions and will be aiming for another good, high-level weekend. We come into this weekend leading the Constructors’ Championship, but we now have to work hard to maintain this position. We are encouraged by our performance and ready for the next seven races.”
