Chemnitz/Wiesbaden – The “Saxon three” is one of the crown jewels among German stamps – now such a block of four is going under the hammer at an auction. The starting bid is 80,000 euros, as announced by the Heinrich Koehler auction house in Wiesbaden.
The 3 Pfennig stamp was the first in the Kingdom of Saxony. It dates from 1850. The block put up for auction at the end of March includes four brownish-red stamps and is uncancelled. According to the information, it comes from the private collection of former Tengelmann boss Erivan Haub.
A year ago, the auction house offered a stamped block of four of the Sachsen Dreier from the collection. It went to an online bidder for 180,000 euros. dpa
