Guasave, Sinaloa.- As a school, the primary March 18 turned 84 years old, but the current building was built in 1965, and despite being considered one of the most emblematic campuses, the needs in terms of infrastructure, as well as equipment, are very strong.
The director of the institution took advantage of the presence of the mayor of Guasave to request support mainly for the reconstruction of the perimeter fence, as it represents a risk for the students and for the citizens who walk through the area.

Victor Eduardo Olivo Rojas, director of the school March 18in the framework of the 84th anniversary of the primary, stressed that it has been the parents who have had a hard time improving the campus, and stressed that although there are many needs, the priority is the issue of the fence.

“The risk is the perimeter fence that runs along Guillermo Nelson Avenue. It is loose and it is a risk both for the school community and for the society that walks on that sidewalk, it is falling.”
He added that during the pandemic they had the theft of everything that is the wiring in the school buildingstarting from the electrical substation, which comes from the main network to the wiring that feeds the air conditioners.
“In priorities that would be one of the main ones, because we are already at the return of the heat.”
Olivo Rojas explained that with the support of the parents, they have already been recovering damages in stages, but not 100 percent.
“What the substation is cost the father of the family, part of the classrooms that have energy, but there is no power to turn on the air conditioners.”
The director mentioned that there are problems with the waterproofing of the classrooms, and they also requested multifunctional goals, since the boards that are on the courts have damage to the infrastructure and are also a risk.

Mayor Martín Ahumada Quintero supervised the campus together with personnel from Public Works, Civil Protection, educational authorities, councilors, deputies and builders, with the commitment to make a common front to meet the rehabilitation needs of the school.
The municipal president specified that to protect the children, the most urgent thing is to support the school with the repair of the fence, in front of Guillermo Nelson Avenue, and they are going to lead the negotiations with the SEP and with deputies so that this school and other schools in Guasave, which require support, enter the budget of 100 million pesos for rehabilitation in Sinaloa.

He pointed out that they will also seek the support of local builders who proposed to him the provision to “adopt” a school, a proposal that was ratified in this supervision by the councilman Antonio López Quiñónez and by the president of the College of Architects, Luis Antonio López Báez.
