Chihuahua.- The State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) provided assistance to 10 people on the move from Africa who reported having been victims of kidnapping by a criminal group.
The events were recorded on August 6 on the Chihuahua-Villa Ahumada highway, when police officers were alerted through the 9-1-1 emergency line about the presence of a group of people wandering erratically and in deplorable conditions.
Once the report was made, agents from the Deployment Police, elements of Police Intelligence, the C7-iA Command Center and rescue personnel were mobilized as soon as possible.
During the intervention, they specified that 4 people came from Sudan and 6 from Morocco.
Engaging in conversation through English interpretation, the group shared that they had been victims of kidnapping and torture, as well as being used as a means of extortion against their families.
Mexican Red Cross personnel later performed a medical examination, which revealed signs of severe dehydration, malnutrition and multiple injuries.
Thus, immediately notifying the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and the National Migration Institute (INM) in order to investigate what happened and clarify the facts.
The group was transferred to a shelter where they will receive specialized medical and psychological care, as well as legal assistance to resolve their situation.
