Spezia, Macía is the new director of the technical area

The 48-year-old Spaniard has signed a four-year contract with the company and is expected in the city starting next week

Spice – Eduardo Macía is the new chief football operations of the Spice Football replacing Riccardo Pecini. The 48-year-old Spaniard, already in Serie A with Fiorentina as Daniele Pradè’s right-hand man, has signed a four-year contract with the Ligurian company and is expected in the city starting next week to start his work.

The new chief scout will be Jakob Friis-Hansen, the former Danish international. Macía began his career as a talent scout in 2001 at Rafa Benitez’s Valencia, who later wanted him with him at Liverpool. He has subsequently worked with Olympiakos, Fiorentina, Betis Seville, Leicester and Girondins de Bordeaux.

Our ‘step by step’ approach to continually improve continues and Eduardo will bring an immense wealth of know-how, experience and deep football network to help Spezia to progress to the next level “, said the president of Spezia, Philip Platek, welcoming Eduardo Macìa. The 48-year-old Spaniard is responsible for all areas directly related to football, including the supervision of the technical and scouting departments.

“The fact that a person with such a footballing experience wants to join us in this initial phase of our journey is a real affirmation for the club and we must all be enthusiastic and united for the rest of the season and for those to come”, Platek pointed out. Macìa is still in Spain and will become operational from Monday 19 September. “We have hard work ahead of us and we will all have to do our part. The owners and I are perfectly aligned on our short, medium and long term goals and I can’t wait to get started”, his first words.
