The governors of São Paulo and Minas Gerais announced reductions in ICMS (Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services) on ethanol starting this Monday (18.Jul.2022). The announcement was made on the governors’ profiles Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB) and Romeo Zema (New) on Twitter.
According to Garcia, the ICMS charge on ethanol will increase from 13.3% to 9.57% and will allow for a discount of up to R$ 0.17. The governor he requested consumers to activate Procon if the price does not change.
In Minas Gerais, the rate will drop from 16% to 9%. Second Zemathe reduction will maintain the competitiveness of biofuel in the State.
In June, the States had already announced reductions in ICMS rates on fuel. In Minas Gerais, the tax on the value of gasoline dropped from 31% to 18% and in São Paulo the reduction was from 25% to 18% in the ICMS on gasoline and diesel. See the complete survey carried out by Power 360 here.
