Soundcore Sport X10: a reference model

Anker this time took the definitive step with these Soundcore Sport X10, but they are really an understatement. The WOW effect is persistent throughout the experience and also difficult to channel into a review. They must be tried in order to appreciate the manufacturing and research that have materialized and made them possible. But let’s see together step by step what makes these Soundcores so special.

Soundcore Sport X10: presentation

Cubic box, no frills, super easy opening and boom, here are the Soundcore Sport X10s in their pod. Matte soap pod with the shiny, elegant logo, a USB-C charging port and a hardware button for pairing on the back, a button in front instead which makes the upper pod snap open, brilliant. Why brilliant? They are sports earphones, the button clip opening will save you having to use both hands to open it.

The design of the Sport X10 immediately strikes, these spiral snails with a hook to lock them to the ear, with a monocoque curvilinear shape that joins the hook and which we discover to be rotating, to allow the earphones to reduce their volume in the pod. As soon as you open the pod you will also notice the front LEDs, previously not visible, which will signal the charge of the Soundcore Sport X10.

Above the earphones you will find a hardware button, both on the right and on the left, button that works in jerks, but we will see it later. The construction is solid, the hooks are of a premium manufacture, like the earphones, with a metallic red finish, super chic. Inside the box you will also find a mini USB-C cable for charging and 4 pairs of rubber pads of different sizes, as well as a very compact manual.

Soundcore Sport X10: info and tests

Let’s start immediately from the drums, as I like it. Anker claims that the Soundcore Sport X10 have a tested duration of 8 hours on full charge, and that the pod guarantees recharges for another 24 hours. Obviously it is assumed not at maximum volume, and in this case even more so, but I’ll get to that later. So do some testing and let’s see what came out of it.

Well at a stable volume at 65%, the Soundcore almost respect the data declared by the company, with a spectacular result of 7 hours and 50 minutes, and surprise of surprises, WITH ANC (active noise cancellation) ON! This means roughly double in more than third-generation AirPodsand here DROP THE MIC …

But it doesn’t stop there, the pod charges are really for about 24 hours longer, and I mean NOMINAL! Not to mention that with an hour in the pod there is an almost complete recharge. Now why did I test at 65% volume? Because the Soundcore Sport X10 are sealants at incredible levels. Once the ANC is activated you are in deep space, and therefore even 50% would have been enough.

With ANC off, the 8 hours declared by Anker are reached, spectacular. A full charge of the pod and headphones takes about 2 hours, but you will have 8 hours plus 24 of pods available, for a total of 32 hours. Small lack, it does not have wireless charging.

That said the bluetooth is 5.2 and the 10mm sensor and 6 microphones make the sound wonderful, but the sound imprint is set to the bass, and loses a bit in the highs, while the mids are crystal clear and perfect. Now this is a subjective thing, and therefore for many it could be happy newsbut if you think so too I have to tell you that there is a surprise, the software.

There’s a’dedicated app with which you can equalize them and prepare your idea of sound. Obviously they are not HIFI headphones, yet with good equalization they reach impressive levels, making the sound experience truly exciting.

The click hardware button located on the Sport X10 has different functions depending on how many times you press it and for how long, plus it has a good level of app customization. The app also has breathing and training programs, a bit like some smartwatches for those who do fitness, really peculiar function.

Unfortunately there is no possibility to return to the previous song. The convenience of the hardware key position is not in question; instinctively, bringing the hand to the ear, the index finger rests on it automatically, and always its strategic position prevents it from being pressed by removing or inserting the earphone.

The fit fits perfectly, the ear hooks are super soft, and for those who wear glasses like me they do not create any disturbance, on the contrary, it is the first time that I do not mind wearing earphones for hours.

A small gem is the transparency mode, which if activated allows you to listen to sounds coming from the outside even without removing the earphones. Certainly the voice that will reach you will not be the best, but perfectly understandable, truly an extraordinary invention. Obviously, this Anker product has also obtained the IPX7 waterproof certificate, but beware, only the earphones, not the pod which must not be wet at all!

But the most important and amazing feature of the Soundcore Sport X10, it is totally unexpected, and it’s the microphone. On this I want to dwell a little more, because it is really the practically unbeatable point. I have tried clearly superior earphones and I have never had the pleasure or the surprise of seeing a phone call with perfect sound, even better than the smartphone microphone.

This especially in noisy conditions, whether you are working in the environment, you want strong wind, or even just people around chatting. Well no muffled sound, no robotic background sound suppression sound, nothing, just your own voice without distortion or mono. I even tried to call me while my helper was with his head out of a window. Only then did I notice something …

That something was a strange interruption of the voice from time to time. Now I don’t know how to explain it well, there was no distortion, nor the roaring noise of the wind, but more as if there was an area where the phone does not take very well, so the voice was muted from time to time. Not a disturbing effect at allrather peculiar instead, and I honestly do not know how they managed to achieve such a thing.

While instead with the wind at a running speed, the voice appears perfectly normal, as if you were in a room alone. As always and as with all earphones, it is not possible to use the microphone for voice messages.

You can find this little masterpiece from Sondcore Sport X10 on Amazonin black or cream version.
