The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) has issued an official statement to clarify the facts and categorically deny the claims that ensure a massive hacking of their systems.
According to what was reported, the allegations that “a few months ago, a group of hackers managed to penetrate the systems of the State Attorney General’s Officethey stole all the information from their servers, including files, arrest warrants, everything, absolutely everything…” are completely false.
It is because of that, the FGJES has specified that, in effect, there was a viral incursion on one of its servers, but the impact was minimal and did not compromise sensitive or strategic information. All critical material was properly backed up and remains protected.
This cyber attack, although worrying, did not have the devastating scope that has been rumored. The institution has assured the population that their important data is safe and that the security measures implemented have been effective in preserving the integrity of the information.
The reason behind the initial silence about the incident, according to Prosecutor’s Office, is due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. This process is being carried out in close collaboration with federal authorities, which requires keeping certain details confidential so as not to compromise the investigations.
Now, it has been decided to make this information public with the aim of avoiding the spread of rumors and confusion that could affect the perception of security and trust in the institutions.
