Social media company Twitter announced the monthly fees for verified accounts on Saturday. This is reported by the news agency Reuters.
In the future, users of verified accounts will have to pay a monthly fee of eight dollars. The amount was the same in euros at Saturday’s exchange rate.
Verified accounts are marked with a blue sign. The mark means that Twitter has verified that the account belongs to the person or company it claims to represent.

Twitter advertises the reform in the application store with equality: everyone can get a blue mark next to their name “just like the celebrities, companies and politicians you already follow”. The company’s product development director Esther Crawford wrote on Twitter on Saturday that although Twitter Blue is already available, it is not yet fully functional, as the test phase is still in progress.
Although Twitter Blue will first be used in only five countries, the reform will later be extended to other countries as well.
The company’s new owner, a billionaire Elon Musk wrote on Twitter on Saturday that the new feature will be rolled out all over the world, once it is confirmed that the reform works as planned and the translation work is completed.
Musk has said he wants to make Twitter less dependent on advertising revenue. The service is currently free for most users.
Musk’s first week at the helm of Twitter has been tumultuous. The company laid off half of its employees on Friday.
