Social media | Musk: Apple threatens to remove Twitter from its app store

Earlier on Monday, Elon Musk said that Apple has stopped almost all advertising on Twitter.

A technology company Apple has threatened to remove Twitter from its app store, claims the owner and director of the social media company Elon Musk in his tweet.

“Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from the App Store, and won’t tell us why,” Musk writes in his tweet.

The App Store run by Apple is one of the largest app stores in the world, in addition to Google’s Play store. The decision to remove the application from the App Store would be a huge blow to Twitter, whose fate has been the subject of lively discussion since Musk took the reins of the company.

Apple has not commented on Musk’s claim.

Previously on Monday, Musk said that Apple has almost completely stopped advertising on Twitter. Apple is one of the biggest advertisers to leave the platform, though not the only one. Among the companies that have stopped advertising are, for example, General Mills and Audi.

“Apple has stopped advertising on Twitter almost completely. Do they hate free speech in America?” Musk tweeted.

Musk took over Twitter in October after completing his $44 billion acquisition after months of uncertainty. Now many advertisers are worried about Twitter’s content policy and moderation.

Twitter gets 90 percent of its revenue from ads.

During the step-by-step purchase process, Musk revealed that he was planning changes to Twitter’s spam and fake bot filtering, milder content moderation, service reform and cost cutting.

Musk has also declared himself a “freedom of speech absolute”.

A week ago, one of Musk’s promises came true: the former president of the United States Donald Trump’s the account freeze was lifted. Trump’s account was suspended following the January 2021 Capitol riot.
